# Finance calculators

Find free finance calculators for mortgage payments, compound interest, take-home pay, loan repayment and everyday money decisions.

## Plan a loan or home purchase

Compare the required payment with the total cost of borrowing. A smaller monthly payment can still mean more interest over a longer term.
Monthly payments, housing costs, extra principal and full amortization

## Build a savings picture

Separate the money you contribute from projected interest. Compare a range of rates and time horizons; a constant return is an assumption, not a forecast.
APY (US) vs AER (UK) — daily, monthly, annual compounding

## Understand your salary

Choose the correct jurisdiction and tax year. Federal-only and simplified estimates can exclude important deductions; read the tool’s coverage before comparing net salaries.
Federal income tax + FICA (Social Security + Medicare)

## Solve an everyday money question

Work out a discount, split a bill or calculate a percentage. For taxes, use the correct rate and check whether it is already included in the price.
Percentage of, what percent, percent change

## Compare like with like

Use the same currency, timing and included costs when comparing results. A mortgage interest rate differs from an APR that includes borrowing fees. A nominal savings rate differs from an effective APY or AER. Changing a currency label does not convert money.

## Keep the assumptions with the answer

For a mortgage, record principal, rate convention, amortization and extra payments. For savings, record deposit timing and the type of annual rate. The upgraded mortgage and compound interest tools let you copy this context and download a monthly schedule.

## Sources & Methodology

This topic page helps you choose a tool. Read the individual calculator’s assumptions, source dates and limitations before relying on its estimate.
