Choose the Australian financial year
The current salary tool defaults to 2026–27. The first taxable resident bracket is 15% from 1 July 2026; choose 2025–26 to use the earlier 16% rate. Both years use the 18,200 tax-free threshold, with higher marginal rates at the applicable thresholds. A financial-year label must match the data being calculated.
LITO and Medicare change low-income estimates
The salary model includes the low income tax offset and a Medicare levy phase-in under single, non-pensioner assumptions. It uses the enacted 28,011 threshold, with a phase-in limited to 10% of income above that amount until the full levy applies. Family, senior and exemption rules require a different assessment.
Enter cash salary excluding employer super
A salary package including super is not the same as salary plus super. Enter the cash component. The calculator shows a separate, uncapped 12% employer-super illustration; it does not apply contribution-base limits or individual eligibility rules.
Understand what a take-home estimate leaves out
Salary is treated as taxable income. Deductions, including any eligible instant work deduction, HELP repayments, Medicare surcharge, salary sacrifice and additional offsets are excluded. Annual estimated tax divided across pay periods may differ from payroll withholding and a final ATO assessment.
